--"Directing the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to conduct a study on the feasibility of expanding the pilot program of providing leftover foods from public schools and institutions to the homeless."
Whereas, A pilot program in Ohio County to distribute leftover foods from public schools and institutions to the homeless has been successful; and
Whereas, Accountability for quantities of leftover foods distributed and satisfaction of involved agencies could be rated excellent in the pilot program; and
Whereas, School participation in this program helped the practice of reduce, reuse and recycle and reduced waste; and
Whereas, The beneficiaries of this program are the State's most needy citizens; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby directed to conduct a study on the feasibility of expanding the pilot program of providing leftover foods from public schools and institutions to the homeless; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 1996, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct thisstudy, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
